"DownBeat" - February 2011

Rudresh Mahanthappa & Bunky Green -- Alto saxophonists Mahanthappa and Green have collaborated on a blazing, multigenerational project that uses traditional forms as a launching point for contemporary improvisation and interaction at its highest level. With the release of their highly anticipated CD "Apex," the two longtime friends and mutual admirers have finally realized their vision of recording an album that charts an ambitious course for the future of jazz saxophone.

Roy Haynes -- The continuing saga of one of jazz's greatest drummers and his Fountain of Youth band.

Kevin Eubanks -- Since departing his long-held gig on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the progressive guitarist has opened a new chapter in his career.

Omar Sosa -- The pianist's Afro-Cuban-based mix of modern jazz and world music is broadly expressive, full of power, passion, subtlety and grace.

Special Section: The Best Places To See Jazz -- 150 of the top jazz clubs and concert venues on the international scene.
