Ron Carter's big band album released today!

"Ron Carter Great Big Band," recorded last Summer in NY with the collaboration of arranger & conductor Robert M. "Bob" Freedman, is coming out today, February 23rd. As usually happens with Ron's albums, initially it will be released only in Japan (by Toshiba-EMI's Somethin' Else label), but it will probably receive a domestic issued in the USA on Blue Note, several months later.

The repertoire includes Ellington/Tizol's "Caravan," Gillespie's "Con Alma," Sonny Stitt's "The Eternal Triangle," Nat Adderley's "Sweet Emma," Freedman's "Pork Chop," Ron's own "Loose Change" and "Opus One Point Five (Theme for C.B.)," Tom Harrel's lovely "Sail Away," Sy Oliver's masterpiece "Opus Number One," W.C. Handy's historical "St. Louis Blues," Gerry Mulligan's "Line for Lyons," Wayne Shorter's "Footprints" and John Lewis' MJQ-classic "The Golden Striker."

Ron, Mulgrew Miller (piano) & Lewis Nash (drums) form the rhythm section, with the horn section including Jerry Dodgion, Steve Davis, Jason Jackson, Douglas Purviance, Tony Kadleck and Alex Norris, amongst others.

『It's The Time』、『Jazz & Bossa』、『The World of Ron Carter』と、近年の充実した活動ぶりを示す意欲的なアルバム・リリースが続くロン・カーター。
