Anna Mjoll @ The Baked Potato, Nov. 5

After some weeks in her native Iceland, doing concerts and also recording & mixing her new CD ("it will be sent from Iceland to Denmark tomorrow for reproduction," she tells us), Anna Mjöll is now back in California for her jazz gig at the Baked Potato this next Thursday, November 5th.

The LA-based Icelandic jazz diva will be backed by Bob Sheppard on sax, Jeff DiAngelo on bass, Matt Gordy on drums, John Chiodini on guitar, and Ed Czach on keyboards. "Also a friend of mine, son of Gil Evans, Miles Evans is going to bring his trumpet and sit in on a couple of songs...he actually took lessons from the great Miles Davis believe it or not..." Yes, I do, and I had the chance to attend many performances by the Gil Evans Orchestra, with Miles Evans leading the trumpet section that also included my dear friend Lew Soloff, at the old Sweet Basil in NY.
One of California's most famous jazz venues, The Baked Potato is located in Studio City, a district in the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles.
