Chicago Jazz Partnership

Some of the most important of Chicago's corporations and foundations came together two years ago to develop a new model for funding the arts, the aim of their sponsoring activities being jazz, as Howard Reich reports ( Chicago Tribune ). In the meantime the consortium which calls itself Chicago Jazz Partnership has funneled 1.5 million dollars, possibly not a big sum in classical music, but a good basis for jazz. Some results of the funding can be heard during the concert series "Made in Chicago". Chicago Jazz Partnership conducted a marketing study which stated that jazz is "underserved by the philanthropic community". The new funding program started as a loose agreement between the involved companies and foundations and partners from the jazz scene, among them also more avantgarde oriented initiatives such as the AACM.
