Litchfield Jazz Festival, 2008 line-up

We are so very pleased to announce the 2008 issue of the Litchfield Jazz Festival
This year's line-up is extra special with performances from:
Grammy-award winning and NEA Jazz Master, Paquito D'Rivera who will be performing with Litchfield Jazz Camp alum, Zaccai Curtis and his Trio. Pianist Zaccai Curtis is a graduate of New England Conservatory. He is a talented composer who received the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award from 2003 to 2006 and was awarded the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism’s Artist Fellowship for original composition in 2007.
Winard Harper's group will be opening Saturday's festivities at Litchfield. The masterful drummer is guaranteed to get your body moving and grooving.
NEA Jazz Master and Connecticut resident Dave Brubeck and is quartet will most assuredly have you standing with ovation after ovation as he tickles the ivories with grace and class and swing
Capping off Saturday before the open jam and after party is Conrad Herwig's band doing the "Latin Side of Miles and 'Trane. Having recently seen this program in New York City, it will surely delight to hear his renditions with the driving force of Robby Ameen on drums. You'll definitely be "salzaswinging!"
Sunday's festivities begin with a real love fest with baritone saxophonist and flutist Claire Daly and her Rah! Rah! band. Claire's music and groups are all about joy as she pays homage to Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Claire has been teaching at Litchfield for the last several years, and making her festival debut as a leader. To hear a preview of some of Claire's music she'll be performing as well as a wonderful InnerView, please go to JazzCorner's InnerViews or download at Itunes or any of your podcast services.
The great finale on Sunday, August 3 is John Pizzarelli with full orchestra in his "Dear Mr. Sinatra" tribute.
