Alan and His Orchestra: "The Girl from Paramaribo" (Polydor) 1972
A groovy version by Azymuth (under the name Alan & His Orchestra) that became the opening theme for a famous Brazilian TV show, Paulo Monte's "Show de Turismo", broadcasted on Sunday mornings by TV Rio.
Actually, "The Girl from Paramaribo" was the Side B of the single, which had the mellow radio hit "Concert for a Summer" on Side A.
Azymuth (José Roberto Bertrami, Alex Malheiros, Ivan Conti) is joined by a large studio orchestra, arranged by keyboardist Berrami. "The late Hamilton plays trumpet on 'Concerto for a Summer," and Luiz Paulo Simas, who would later form the Vímana group, helped me with the synthesizer effects," he reveals, adding that Trio Esperança provided the vocals on "The Girl from Paramaribo."
