North Sea Jazz Festival updates

Etta James cancelled
Due to pneumonia Etta James has cancelled all her performances for the coming months. This means she will not be performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival either. The organization wishes her a fast recovery.

Diana Krall
Diana Krall’s plusconcert on Sunday 13 July is sold out. There are no more tickets available for this concert.

dbClifford replaces Adele
Unfortunately British singer Adele has other obligations and cancelled all her planned performances in the beginning of July, amongst which those on the Rock Werchter and the North Sea Jazz Festival. The organization was able to book dbClifford to replace her. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist dbClifford, known for his recent hit Simple Things, has been surrounded by music all his life. At the age of five he already played the opera Carmen on the piano. At age eleven dbClifford began branching out towards drums and eventually bass, guitar and sax. dbClifford’s performance is on Friday 11 July, 10.30 pm in the Yukon.

Giovanco added to program
For years Giovanca has been known as the radiant background singer who did live and studio work for national and international artists such as Wouter Hamel, Tribute2BobMarley, Corey, Izaline Calister, Jhelisa Anderson, Leon Ware and Benny Sings. The musical click with Benny Sings and the DOX record label made her decide to take a step forward and present her own work. On her debut album Subway Silence she effortlessly blends old sounds such as tubular bells and the clavinet with the new beats and samples of producer Benny Sings, which results in feel-good music with influences from pop, soul, jazz, Motown and hip hop. With this extraordinary and diversified debut record with international allure, Giovanca demonstrates that she is a musical centipede, able to acquire a variety of styles. Giovanca’s performance is on Friday 11 July, 9.45 pm in the Mississippi.

Line-up Bobby McFerrin complete
For the Bobby McFerrin concert on Saturday 12 July, percussionist Alex Acuña will be replaced by Cyro Baptista, known from amongst others Beat the Donkey. Both Baptista and Richard Bona featured on Bobby’s CD Beyond Words (2002). For the Bobby McFerrin concert on Sunday 13 July the following special guests have been confirmed: Naturally 7 and the Hungarian/German gypsy guitarist Ferenc Snétberger.
