Arthur Verocai's concert included on a 3-DVD box set released today in the USA

The acclaimed concert performed by Brazilian maestro Arthur Verocai in LA, one year ago, is being released today by the Mochilla label as part of a 3-DVD set titled "Timeless." Verocai's brilliant performance, conducting a 30-piece orchestra, features such guests as keyboardists José Roberto Bertrami (on Hammond organ) & Aloisio Milanez (aka Aloisio Aguiar on acoustic piano & Fender Rhodes), drummer Ivan Conti (Mamão), percussionist Airto Moreira, reedman Justo Almario, trombonist Elizabeth Lea, and vocalists Clarisse Grova, Carlos Dafé & Diana Moreira Booker.
The two other DVDs are devoted to Mulatu Astatke and the late producer/composer J. Dilla, whose work is celebrated by Carlos Niño and arranger/conductor Miguel Atwood-Ferguson in a haunting "Suite For Ma Dukes." Btw, in the bonus chapters of "Ma Dukes," Diana Moreira, daughter of Flora Purim & Airto Moreira, is featured singing the lovely "Saudade Vem Correndo," written by my late friends Luiz Bonfá & Maria Helena Toledo, both uncredited on the DVD data.
Total time: 220 minutes.
Curiously, although the extras are colored, the three concerts are presented in black & white.
Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1

Press Release:
Timeless describes moments outside of time - moments that exist so deep inside history that they break through that finite grid. Timeless: The Composer/Arranger Series is an homage to the composer and arrangers that have influenced hip-hop in the most literal and profound ways. The creative center of popular music today is the beatmaker/ producer. Whether it is Timbaland, Dilla, Dre, or Madlib, these musicians have an uncanny sense for voicings, a penchant for unusual sounds and catchy rhythms and a magical ability to manufacture a good performance. Today s beatmakers are the direct descendants of yesterday's composer-arrangers. Their processes -whether it be writing a memorable line for background singers or finding the appropriate moment for a baritone harmonica - mirror those of today's musicians. The composer/arranger creates music through the frame of the bigger picture, often more concerned with how things sound together than individually. Similarly today's beatmakers produce music on a grand scale, but through automation and sampling.
Timeless brings these two seemingly unlike worlds together. The series honors the musical legacies of some of the greatest composer and arrangers ever. Timeless celebrates the work in the context it should be seen - with full orchestras. From Mulatu Astatke to J.Dilla to Arthur Verocai, the Timeless Concert Series touched upon the works of three musical giants. Mochilla is proud to announce the release date of their 3xDVD box set. An extremely limited and hand numbered edition of 4,000 units will include full liner notes, a free fold-out poster exclusive only to this box set, extra features, songs and slideshows of images used in the presentation.
