A park in Oakland Park has been named after the bassist Jaco Pastorius who attended high school there, as Juan Ortega reports (Palm Beach Post). The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Monday which would have been the 57th birthday of Pastorius who died in 1987 at age 35. Saxophonist/trumpeter Ira Sullivan with whom Pastorius had performed played for the ceremony.
