Mark Murphy: "A Swingin', Singin' Affair" (Fontana/Verve) 2008
Produced by Jack Baverstock, recorded April 8-10, 1964, in London (UK), this album was originally released as "A Swingin', Singin' Affair" (Fontana SRF 67537, USA) and "Mark Time!" (Fontana TL 5217, UK).
Now it re-appears on Verve's "Jazz Club" series, including the original liner notes by Dick Tatham.
Reissue Producer: Matthias Kunnecke.
Arranged & Conducted by John Dankworth, Les Reed and Tubby Hayes, includes Murphy's original readings of songs by The Beatles ("She Loves You") and Charles Aznavour ("Ballyhoo"), plus Tony Bennett's signature song "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". There's also "My Foolish Heart", "I'll Be Around", "Come Rain or Come Shine" and "The Best Is Yet To Come".
