After the recent release of the superb "Bill's Waltz" album (featuring Elvin Jones, Don Alias and the NDR Big Band), bassist/composer/arranger/producer Gene Perla prepares the CD release of a live recording by the late percussionist Don Alias, his longtime friend and colleague on the Stone Alliance group. Alias' "Heartbeat Tour" features Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Gil Goldstein, Django Bates, Mitch Stein, Carles Benavent, Giovanni Hidalgo, Alex Acuña, and Steve Berrios. There's also a new Stone Alliance CD in the works which features many top New York musicians.
