I can't imagine a better bossa compilation ever being released. This one's got everything. The lot.
Who's on it? Well, Os Namorados, João Donato, Tamba Trio, Sergio Mendes, Sylvia Telles, Roberto Menescal, Lucio Alves, Dom Um Romão, Os Gatos, Edu Lobo, Baden Powell, Quarteto Em Cy, Nara Leão, Os Cariocas, Luiz Carlos Vinhas, Stan Getz, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Marcia, Quincy Jones, Dick Farney and Gaya, Meirelles and Os Copa 5, Luiz Bonfá and Ithamara Koorax, Caetano Veloso, João Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Eumir Deodato, Nara Leão, Marcos Valle, Walter Wanderley, Wes Montgomery, Oscar Peterson, Paul Desmond, Elis Regina and Pelé (yes, Pelé) are.
Nike adverts starring Ronaldo, Dingwalls favourites and cocktail lounge classics all come fitted as standard. It's a 50-track double CD monster, a damn sight cheaper than a holiday, and the compiler's research deserves a CBE (Commend of the British Empire).
I repeat: I can't imagine a better bossa nova compilation. (JC)
