PERFORMING MUSIC FROM HIS CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED RECORDING
TURN UP THE HEATH

20 WEEKS ON THE JAZZWEEK CHARTS

"...in his composing-arranging as well as in his playing, Jimmy has indeed embodied jazz's rainbow of sounds and stories."
Nat Hentoff - JazzTimes

4 stars DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE
"...Two A list units swing ebulliently through soulful, meticulous charts..."
TED PANKEN

"When Jimmy Heath recorded his first album as a big-band leader in 1992, after nearly half a century as a working musician, who could have dreamed that he'd come back fourteen years later with a sequel that handily blows that first enterprise out of the water...The band is world-class, as are Heath's irrepressible charts. Don't pass this one up.
JACK BOWERS, Cadence

"This is an outstanding disc and easily one of the best albums released at the end of 2006."
KEN DRYDEN - All About Jazz New York

“One of the best composers and arrangers to emerge
during the bop era… Jimmy Heath's Turn Up the Heath
will be paying dividends to jazz fans for generations.”
KEN DRYDEN – ALL MUSIC GUIDE

"...Heath packs his arrangements with incident, deft voicings and exhilarating counterpoint. He has a story to tell and he tells it well..."
Ray Comiskey, Irish Times - 5 stars

"Big band albums by Jimmy Heath are rare.
In his 60-year career, there have been only three or four.
"Turn Up the Heath", recorded at sessions in 2004 and this year,
is his masterpiece as an arranger".
Owen Cordle, The News & Observer

"...this CD has a wealth of in-the-moment magic, muscular swing, and orchestral grace and power."
4 stars JOSEPH BLAKE/Times Colonist

Wish I could be there, but I'm on the other side of the globe. Anyway, I take this opportunity to recommend the haunting documentary "Brotherly Jazz - The Heath Brothers". Directed byJesse Block, produced by Danny Scher for DanSun Prod., it's one of the best DVDs of the year. Konnichi wa!
