Advertisement published by CTI in several magazines (Billboard and DownBeat, among them), back in 1975, to promote "She Was Too Good To Me", Chet Baker's enchanting debut album on Creed Taylor's label.
Below, the front cover scan of the best CD reissue ever of "She Was Too Good To Me", released in Japan on the "CTI 24bit Remastering Series" issued by King Records on June 25, 1995. It uses the original Rudy Van Gelder mix, with no bonus track. A truly perfect album, with great solos by Chet, Paul Desmond and Bob James (on Fender Rhodes) over the solid backing of Ron Carter, Steve Gadd and Jack DeJohnette. Don Sebesky's light, clean and subtle arrangements are a real plus, specially on the title tune and "What'll I Do", on which airy strings & delicate woodwinds surround Chet's romantic vocals. My favorite Chet Baker album ever!Saturday, October 18, 2008
