Lou Volpe: "Love Dance Remixes" (Society Hill MRC-1051) 1987
Side A - "Love Dance - Vocal Rmx" (6:18)
Side B - "Love Dance - Instrumental Rmx" (4:17)
Typical of the aesthetic standards of the tecno-jazz of the 80s, these remixes by Butch Ingram took Lou Volpe's "Love Dance" song to the American dancefloors. Lou himself, acting like an one-man show, did all the programming (someone here remembers the LinnDrum?), sang and played all the guitars. A musician's musicians, one of the most underrated talents of New York's jazz scene, Volpe has recorded with people like Urszula Dudziak, Terumasa Hino, Chaka Khan, Ithamara Koorax, Bette Midler, Joey DeFrancesco, Pete Levin, Les McCann, Liza Minelli, Roberta Flack and countless others. He also played with Chet Baker, Gil Evans, Peggy Lee, Jon Lucien, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Mann, Herbie Hancock, Tania Maria, Hank Crawford, David "Fathead" Newman and Lionel Hampton, besides having recorded & toured extensively with Judy Collins.
