DVD of the Day - "Jamiroquai: Live at Montreux 2003"

DVD of the Day
Jamiroquai: "Live at Montreux 2003" (Eagle Vision/ST2) 2007
One of the best "pop" shows I have seen in Monterux by one of the most successful British acts to come out of the nineties.
In America, they have sold 2.5 million albums, bolstered on the strength of their breakout album "Traveling Without Moving". The band deliver a blistering two-hour plus set crammed with hit singles (such as "Cosmic Girl" - inspired by Deodato's "Super Strut" -, "Little L" and "Canned Heat") and much loved album tracks led from the front by Jay Kay's compulsory headgear, plus the only known recording of "Shoot the Moon".
The band is impeccable: Matt Johnson (Fender Rhodes and synths), Nick Fyffe (bass), Derrick McKenzie (drums), Sola Akingbola (percussion), Rob Harris (guitar), Hazel Fernandes & Lauraine McIntosh (background vocals).
15 songs from their 2003 concert plus one track ("Space Cowboy", on which Jay smokes a loooong joint shared with the band members) from Jamiroquai's first visit to Montreux during their heyday in 1995, when "the guy who sounded like Stevie Wonder" was an integral part of the pop side of the acid-jazz scene.
