CBC Radio 2 caught up with Diana Krall's "Quiet Nights Tour" at the Orpheum Theatre, where she performed with her quartet plus members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alan Broadbent. Many of the songs are also featured on her brand-new fantastic DVD "Live in Rio" (Eagle/ST2).
She made no secret about loving being home in Vancouver and peppered her on stage talk with references to her happy family life on the west coast with her twin, two year-old boys and rock star husband, Elvis Costello.
She thrilled the sold out audience with her hard swinging quartet and shifted the mood into afterglow with lush arrangements penned by Claus Ogerman and Johnny Mandel, two geniuses of the orchestration art.
