Single of the Day
George "Bad" Benson: "Supership" (CTI) 1975
Before the laid-back crooner days came this funky-disco number composed by Ralph MacDonald (who also played percussion/congas on the track), William "Bill" Salter (who played bass and had been Sivuca's bandmate on the "Pata Pata days" of Miriam Makeba), William Eaton and Arthur Jenkins. The rhythm arrangement was done by Jenkins, with additional orchestral score by William Eaton. It's interesting to mention that Eaton arranged two tracks for Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" hit album, for which both MacDonald and Salter also contributed some songs.
