Dan Oullette speaks about Ron Carter, today, in NY

Today, jazz writer Dan Ouellette will be speaking at Baruch College, the City University of New York on Ron Carter's life at 1PM at 55 Lexington Avenue. The lecture is free and open to the public.

"It's billed as a multimedia event, which means that I'm in full motion at the moment figuring out videos and mps interview files and music and photos to bring," says Ron's biographer.

"The following week, from Wed. April 16 through Sunday, April 20, Ron will set up at the Blue Note club in the West Village with guitarist Russell Malone. The week was originally schedule as another Ron summit with Jim Hall, but Jim recently had back surgery and had to cancel. To the best of my knowledge, this will be the first time Ron and Russell have played as a duo. Expect some bluesy and maybe even some funk-inflected music. (Incidentally, I'll be working with a crew to shoot an interview with Ron on Friday of that week in his apartment for a BETJ documentary on Ron that I'm co-producing.)"
