Vocal CD of the Month - "Diana Krall: Nothing At All / Live in Tokyo and North Sea"
Diana Krall: "Nothing At All" (Monotone) 2012
A collectors' item for Krall's fans. Despite the use of the same photo from her latest and strangest release ever ("Glad Rag Doll"), this 3-CD set includes previously unreleased material from two different sources.
Both Disc 1 -- which includes nice versions of "All or Nothing at All," "On the Sunny Side of the Street" and the melancholic Harry Warren/Al Dubin's 1933 song "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" popularized by Tony Bennett in the early 50s and later revived by Marianne Faithfull -- and Disc 2, featuring "Devil May Care" and "Love Me Like A Man", were taped live at Bukamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Japan, on March 25, 2005.
Disc 3, with Burt Bacharah's "Walk on By," Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Corcovado" (Quiet Nights) and Irving Berlin's "Cheek to Cheek" among the highlights, documents Diana's concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on July 13, 2008.
