Single of the Day - Astrud Gilberto: "Ti Mangerei"

Single of the Day (pic sleeve, 45rpm)
Astrud Gilberto: "Ti Mangerei/Brazilian Tapestry" (CTI) 1971
One of the rarest singles in the CTI catalog!
"Ti Mangerei" is a Spanish version of Bob Dylan's "If Not For You", not available in any Astrud album, ie, anywhere else. Features Joao Palma (drums), Dom Um Romao (percussion) and Russell George (electric bass).
"Brazilian Tapestry" is Eumir Deodato's adaptation of "Mulher Rendeira" originally recorded for the "Gilberto with Turrentine" LP. Besides Stanley Turrentine on tenor sax, it features Deodato on Hammond & Fender Rhodes, Ron Carter on acoustic bass, Sivuca on acoustic guitar, Hubert Laws on flute, Airto Moreira on triangle, and both Dom Um Romao and Joao Palma playing at the same time on two drumsets (Palma is on the left channel, Dom Um on the right). Details by courtesy of engineer Rudy Van Gelder.
