R.I.P: Arnvid Meyer
The Danish jazz trumpeter Arnvid Meyer died at the age of 80. He started to play traditional jazz in the 50s, and in 1959 founded his own sextet, which he also accompanied musicians such as Ben Webster in concerts and recordings. In 1971 he founded The Danish Jazz Center, a huge collection and archive which at first was shelved in his house in Rønnede, in the south of Lutland, Denmark. In 1997 most of the collection was transferred to the university library in Odense. Meyer was active in the Danish Music Council for 11 years. In his last years he worked on a discography of Danish jazz, expected to be published soon. Obituary: Berlingske Tidenden .
