R.I.P.: Fred Rundquist

Fred Rundquist
(born 1918, Kiruna, Sweden;
died Feb. 5, 2009, Chicago/Illinois, USA)

The guitarist Fred Rundquist died February 5th in Chicago at the age of 91. Rundquist was born in Sweden, but his family moved to Chicago when he was 5. At the age of 18 he decided to become a professional musician. He played in the Army Air Force band, and then worked with the jazz accordionist Art Van Damme with whom he toured extensively. He worked in orchestras accompanying top singers such as Peggy Lee, Judy Garland or Frank Sinatra and did extensive studio work. Obituary: Chicago Tribune.
