Vinicius Dorin: "Revoada" (Maritaca) 2004
One of Brazil's top reedmen, Dorin offers an impressive solo outing, with great contributions by Írio Jr. (on Fender Rhodes), Fernando Corrêa (guitar), Enéias Xavier (bass) and Nenê (drums), plus special guests Hermeto Pascoal (piano & percussion on "Viniciando"), Arismar do Espírito Santo (acoustic guitar on a haunting version of Baden Powell's "Violão Vadio") and André Marques (piano in some tracks and the author of "Serpente").
Dorin's originals are intrincate and challenging tunes. A former member of Pascoal's band, he plays flutes, soprano, alto & tenor sax on this impeccable set. I had the honor to record with Dorin on an album I produced for pianist Edu Toledo, and I can't wait to see it finally released.
