"Jazz for Young People" series at Lincoln Center, NY

Jazz at Lincoln Center’s first Jazz for Young People® concert of the 2008-09 season is entitled “Who is Thelonious Monk?” hosted by Wynton Marsalis and friends. The concert invites children and adults alike to sing, dance and share their musical knowledge as they explore the High Priest of Bebop, Thelonious Monk. Recommended for ages 6 and older.

Tickets for the Jazz for Young People concert are $12, $20 & $28 and can be purchased through www.jalc.org or CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor. Box office hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

"Jazz for Young People: Who is Thelonious Monk?" opens Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Thelonious Monk Festival. Other festivities include:
- “The Music of Thelonious Monk” featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and guest artist Marcus Roberts in Rose Theater, November 20-22, 2008, 8 p.m.
- “Danilo Pérez Trio: Panamonk Revisited” in The Allen Room, November 21-22, 2008, 7:30 & 9:30 p.m.
- “Mostly Monk” One For All with Eric Alexander, Steve Davis, Jim Rotondi, Dave Hazeltine, John Webber, Joe Farnsworth in Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, November 21-23, 2008, 7:30 & 9:30 p.m. with an 11:30 p.m. set on Friday and Saturday.
