Well, as you probably read yesterday, the main jazz event in California today was the “Great Day in LA” – organized by Kenney Burrell, it was a gathering of about 200+ Los Angeles jazz musicians, to create a photograph reminiscent of the famous 1958 “Great Day in Harlem” photo by Art Kane (see below). What fun! Good vibes permeated the beautiful sunny day.
Here’s a preview photo – just a candid shot of the guitarists/bassists/string players – my friend Diane Hubka, one of the best singers in the current jazz scene, is behind/between Kenny Burrell and Jimmy Wyble (with the hat!), and next to Barry Zweig. – not bad company! :) Cheers, Diane!
