2008 JVC JAZZ FESTIVAL NEW YORK RETURNS TO CARNEGIE HALL
AND ZANKEL HALL WITH 11 STELLAR CONCERTS
All-star Line-up Includes Herbie Hancock, João Gilberto, Jill Scott, Chris Botti,
Mos Def Big Band with Gil Scott-Heron, Al Green, Dianne Reeves, Dick Hyman & More!
NEW YORK, NY - The 2008 JVC Jazz Festival New York, produced by Festival Network (FN), returns to Carnegie Hall and Zankel Hall for 11 nights of award-winning jazz, Bossa Nova, soul, neo-soul, Afropean, tango and more. Featuring some of the biggest and brightest stars on today's music scene, the JVC Jazz Festival New York builds upon 26 years of diverse music at the renowned Carnegie Hall.
Taking a bow at Carnegie Hall are Jill Scott, Sergio Mendes, Zap Mama, João Gilberto, Herbie Hancock, Lionel Loueke Trio, Chris Botti, Al Green, Dianne Reeves and Mos Def Big Band with special guest Gil Scott-Heron. Zankel Hall hosts the Brad Mehldau Trio, Dick Hyman & Friends, Tierney Sutton Band and Richard Galliano Tangaria 4Tet.
"New York is one of the world's favorite destinations for jazz and entertainment, and our long-standing partnership with JVC and Carnegie Hall makes it possible to present two incredible weeks of the best in jazz and jazz-related music," said Tom Shepard, CEO of Festival Network. "The rich history of this unique festival comes to life in an outstanding 2008 line-up of seasoned musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Billy Taylor and Cecil Taylor, who performed on our first New York festival in 1972, as well as up-and-coming artists who will be creating new chapters in jazz history."
