The world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis embarks on a 2008 summer tour that will take the band across Canada to the western United States.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, composed of 15 of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players, is the resident orchestra at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Under Music Director Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra tours worldwide performing a vast repertoire: from rare historic compositions to recently commissioned works, to compositions and arrangements by John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan, Horace Silver, Mary Lou Williams and members of the orchestra. Over the last few years, the orchestra has performed throughout the world in collaborations with leading symphony orchestras, in concert halls, dance venues, jazz clubs, public parks, river boats and churches; and with symphony orchestras, ballet troupes, local students and an ever-expanding roster of guest artists.
