Palmyra & Levita with Joao Donato -- Lucy In The Sky With Bossa Diamonds ... CD

2004. New Copy .... $19.99
Light and lovely work from the team of Palmyra & Levita -- made even better by piano from Joao Donato! Palmyra's a sweet-voiced female vocalist with a style that stretches back to include influences from American torch singers of years past, and some of the warmer voices of the 60s bossa era in Brazil. Levita plays acoustic guitar with a light and jazzy touch -- and works here with some spare but wonderfully effective piano from bossa maestro Joao Donato -- to create a cool and gentle backdrop for the sweet lead vocals in the set. Titles include "Fools Rush In", "Ahie", "Tenderly", "Ho Ba La La", "Odara", "Everyday", "Revelacao", and "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds".

On A Clear Bossa Day
Mario Castro Neves & Samba SA
CD (Item 362802) 2004 -- Condition: New Copy
A dreamy dreamy bossa gem from Mario Castro Neves & Samba SA -- a group we haven't heard from since the 60s! Mario's group has a sound that's a lot like the classic work of Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 -- snapping bossa rhythms at the bottom, and two female voices on the top -- singing in a jazzy, breezy style that's really outta site! The lineup's changed a bit since the old days -- and one of the singers is the lovely Ithamara Koorax -- but the sound of the set is just like Mario's 60s work with the group, produced with a light jazzy flair that really brings out the best elements in the work. Titles include "Samba SA", "The Whole Mess", "Lilli", "Tokyo Waltz", "My Rio", "Helena & I", "Mara My Love", and "So Nice". (In a wonderful cardboard gatefold cover -- just like a tiny record album!) © 1996-2008, Dusty Groove America, Inc
