Vinyl of the Day - "Jack Wilkins: Opal"
Vinyl of the Day Jack Wilkins: "Opal" (CTI) 1983 Featuring: Albert Dailey, Harvie Swartz, Phil Woods, Akira Tana, Ted Moore, Carl Bari
Hi, Thx for the visit. Actually, the latest "new" CTI album came out in the USA in 2003: the domestic release of Jurgen Friedrich's "Summerflood." And a new project by the CTI All Stars band (featuring Hubert Laws, Randy Brecker, Mark Egan Airto, Flora Purim etc) was recorded/filmed a month ago, live at the 2009 Montreux Jazz Festival. http://jazzstation-oblogdearnaldodesouteiros.blogspot.com/search?q=Montreux Back in the 80s, Jack Wilkins' sessions (recorded in July 1983) were followed by some other albums recorded in 1984 by Claudio Roditi, Les McCann, Roger Kellaway, Urszula Dudziak... Not to mention several CDs and LaserDiscs released by CTI in the 90s after Creed reorganized the label in 1989, when he recorded the all-star session "Rhythmstick," the first CTI project recorded at Van Gelder Studio using a multi-track digital console. I suggested you to visit Doug Payne's fabulous website about CTI: http://www.dougpayne.com/cti.htm I'm sure you'll love it. Cheers! Arnaldo
this appears to be the last CTI release! Just when Creed had a financial problem, and he had to fold the operation. RIP CTI!
