R.I.P.: Kitty Grime
The British jazz critic and singer Kitty Grime died on August 10th at the age of 77 from cancer. In the early 50s she discovered her love for jazz in Soho, and soon moved within musicians' circles around Ronnie Scott and Johnny Dankworth. As a journalist she wrote liner notes for the Esquire label, but also for magazines such as the Jazz News or daily papers such as The Observer. She published books about travel and style, but also two jazz books, "Jazz at Ronnie Scott's" and "Jazz Voices". She had many friends within the international jazz scene, and in Roy Eldridge even a lover. In the last years she worked as a visitors' guide at the Globe Theatre on London's South Side. Obituary: Guardian .
