The focus is on recordings from the Seventies and Eighties - by singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Flora Purim, American instrumentalists like Cannonball Adderley, Cal Tjader, and Jim Hall, and Brazilian leaders, including Luiz Bonfá, Raul de Souza, and Claudio Roditi. Throughout, the musicians and arrangers comprise a who's who of modern Brazilian music: Egberto Gismonti, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, and Hermeto Pascoal are just a few of the featured sidemen lending support. It should be noted that about half of the material is making its first appearance on CD."
