Luiz Bonfá's "The Bonfá Magic", produced by Arnaldo DeSouteiro, was originally released in the USA by Milestone Records, on January 25, 1993, and reprinted on October 15, 1997.
(Milestone CD MCD-9202-2)
The album was digitally remastered by Phil DeLancie at Fantasy Studios (Berkeley, California, US), and new liner notes were written by Milestone/Fantasy's publicist Terri Hinte for the tray card/back cover:
"The Bonfá Magic is the legendary Brazilian composer/guitarist's fiftieth album, and the first he's recorded in Brazil in over 30 years. Accompanied by top Rio sidemen, he performs some new originals and reprises a few of his own classicsm notably "Manhã de Carnaval" (from Black Orpheus), the jazz waltz "Sofisticada", "Almost in Love" (written for Elvis Presley in 1968!), and "Menina Flor" (recorded by Bonfá and Stan Getz in '63), Named the top instrumental album of 1991 by several publications in Brazil when it was released there, "The Bonfá Magic" will likewise appeal to American fans of his gentle romanticism and elegant artistry."
