R.I.P.: Herb Pomeroy

The trumpeter and jazz educator Herb Pomeroy died August 11th in his home in Gloucester, Massachusetts, at the age of 77 after a long struggle with cancer. Pomeroy had performed with Charlie Parker, Stan Kenton, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins and many other musicians. He was one of Boston's most renowned musicians. As a teacher he drew many students whom he taught at the Berklee College of Music. In 1996 Herb was inducted to the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) Hall of Fame and in 1997 into the Down Beat Jazz Education Hall of Fame. Obituary: Boston Globe .
