Ithamara Koorax Brazilian Butterfly
Genre: Cultural

A very soothing international feel far from the favelas of Rio while originating in the culture of life and community they spawned. Legendary Brazilian vocalist Ithamara Koorax presents the world with her most diverse and risky record to date. The soulful jazz and bossa nova infused interactions between Koorax's soul and the listeners body movements is impossible not to respond to. The percussion alone is worthy of mention, its often difficult to tell how many percussionists are keeping in tune and rhythm simultaneously on the same song. All the while, Koorax comforting voice guides you through the struggles and inconsistencies of human life. While you may not understand what she's saying in Portuguese, you certainly understand what she's feeling, and more often than not, and definitely in this case, that's all that really matters.
