Diana Krall plans new collaboration with Claus Ogerman and appears tonight at Jay Leno

My favourite Blond-Girl, Diana Krall, will be performing tonight at the Jay Leno TV show on NBC. It's part of the promo campaign for her recent compilation, "The Very Best of Diana Krall", released in the US last week, which also includes some previously unreleased tracks.

The last three months she was on tour with her new family, Diana Krall tells Andrew Purcell ( Guardian ), with her husband Elvis Costello and the twins. Many jazz purists find her kind of music too smooth. She has always been criticized for the way she was marketed. She used to be bothered by such criticism but feels that she is more balanced now. It is wrong that she is being directed by the industry - she emphasizes that she is doing all her own arrangements, conceptualising everything. She wants to be a jazz entertainer just like Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick Jr. and especially like Nat King Cole. Krall also plans to record a new album for which Claus Ogerman will again write some of the arrangements.

John Coltrane's house to be converted into a museum
The Long Island house inhabited by John Coltrane in the 60s received landmark status ( New York Times , Washington Post ). Coltrane composed "A Love Supreme" in this home. Members of his family hope to be able to convert the house into a museum and music archive.

NEW YORK -- Winning seven Emmy Awards couldn't have come at a better time for Tony Bennett.
On September 16, the venerable singer took home seven of the TV industry's top prizes for his 2006 NBC special "Tony Bennett: An American Classic," including outstanding variety, music or comedy special and outstanding individual performance in a variety or music program. It was the most-honored of any single program at the ceremony.
And it certainly gives a boost to a trio of projects Bennett is releasing this fall. A new compilation, "Tony Bennett Sings the Ultimate American Songbook Vol. 1" on Sony Legacy, comes out September 25, as does the DVD issue of the documentary "Clint Eastwood Presents Tony Bennett: The Music Never Ends," which premiered on PBS' "American Masters" series earlier this month. The latter is part of a "Rent it at Netflix, Buy it at Target" partnership that gives those companies exclusive sales rights to the film for two months.
On October 1, Barnes & Noble will publish "Tony Bennett in the Studio: A Life of Art and Music," featuring Bennett's paintings as well as a preface by former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo and a foreword by author Mitch Albom.
And all this comes in the wake of his Grammy Award-winning "Duets: An American Classic" album, which has sold about 1.8 million copies in the United States and almost 2.5 million worldwide.
"All of a sudden it's like Tony Bennett season again," said Bennett's son and manager, Danny Bennett. "It's great to see."
The younger Bennett and his RPM Music Production company haven't wasted any time in trumpeting the Emmy sweep in full-page national and regional ads in major publications.
Danny Bennett said he's also in discussions for additional airings of the Eastwood documentary, which will be eligible for Emmy consideration in 2008.
As for an encore to the "Duets" album, Bennett said a "collaboration" is likely for fourth-quarter 2008. Tony Bennett previously told Billboard.com that he's pursuing a full-scale duets project with Stevie Wonder (like we had anticipated here in the blog sometime ago), with whom he won a Grammy for their "Duets" rendition of "For Once in My Life."

Take The "A" Train
The first New York subway line both owned and operated by the city and named the "A- Train" celebrates its 75th birthday, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority strung together a train with historic cars for the occasion, as William Neuman reports ( New York Times ). The first A-Train carried passengers on February 10th, 1932. And the jazz connection? Well, of course Billy Strayhorn's composition "Take the A Train", the signature tune of Duke Ellington's Orchestra, which was played by a saxophonist in one of the cars and which in the early 40s already celebrated the "A-Train" as the quickest way to get to Harlem.

Brazilian drummer Adriano de Oliveira died today, September 23, of heart attack, after a long battle against cancer. He worked for many years with jazz songstress Leny Andrade, with whom he toured internationally, as well as with singer Pery Ribeiro. Funeral services will happen in São Paulo.
Hannibal Lokumbe's new suite
The trumpeter and composer Hannibal Lokumbe (formerly known as Hannibal Marvin Peterson) premiered his new suite "Because I Love You: A Musical Poem for Oretha Castle Haley" in New Orleans, as Theodore P. Mahne reports ( New Orleans Times-Picayune ). The composition in five movements is an homage to one of the leaders of the civil rights movement, but also a reflection about the movement's significance today and about the situation of the city of New Orleans these days. Lokumbe, Pianist Jesse McBride, bassist David Pulphus, drummer Adonis Rose and percussionist Uganda Roberts were supported by the choir Voices of New Orleans directed by Rev. Lois Dejean.

Tonight, at Bypass, my favorite club in Genève (Switzerland), the "Italian Electro Party" will include the best dancefloor jazz tracks produced by Arnaldo DeSouteiro for such artists as Ithamara Koorax, Gazzara, Dom Um Romão, Palmyra & Levita and many others, and remixed by some outstanding DJs as Seiji, Tom Novy, Preo, Alex Attias and so on.Most of this stuff has been released in Italy and distributed worldwide by Irma Records, but the songlist also includes the recent hit "O Passarinho", composed by Arnaldo DeSouteiro, Ithamara Koorax and Gazzara. This song, originally written for Gazzara's band "Brother and Sister" album, exploded in the Italian airwaves after being selected to the soundtrack of the TV reality show "La Pupa e il Secchione". Now, it's booming in the dancefloors all over Europe thanks to Tom Novy's remixes released on a vinyl EP by the Ritmica/Silence label.
Bypass has gained an excellent reputation that is reaching far beyond Genève and even Switzerland, attracting hip dancers, DJs, listeners and musicians from all over the world.
Tonight, this party (with guest DJs Ricky Galliano and Massimilliano Agnelli) will offer an intoxicating musical melange labeled as "dancefloor jazz", which is sultry and lascivious, scorching and seductive. See u there!

Hoje é daqueles dias!
A insônia me tirou da cama às 4 da manhã. Já que não tinha mesmo mais sono, vim me informar. E dei de cara com a escalação do Prêmio TIM cheio de gente querida concorrendo. Rita Lee por melhor disco de pop rock, melhor cantora na mesma categoria e melhor cantora por voto popular; Jaime Além pelos brilhantes arranjos do último CD da Bethânia, Ithamara Koorax com melhor álbum em língua estrangeira e, maior das surpresas, Moisés Santana concorrendo com o melhor álbum de música eletrônica com o delicioso Remix remexa (leia mais aqui). Adoro quando um artista talentoso e honesto ganha esse reconhecimento mesmo sem o auxílio luxuoso de um jabá ou um padrinho. Desse tipo que chega, se impõe e vence pela qualidade. Desses que ficam.
Moisés vai ter festa de sobra para comemorar com dois shows em São Paulo. Ziriguidum tá fazendo promoção, é só se inscrever no fotoblog (clique aqui). E também estou com um programinha de rádio especial com ele na agulha pra publicar... quem sabe amanhã... vou correr com essa pauta para fazer parte dessa festa! "Aaah, romance. Ithamara Koorax, the splendid Brazilian jazz vocalist just becoming known in the United States despite a long and successful career everywhere else, has a goosebump-inducing voice that is doubly effective when she works in the ballad format. Which is what Love Dance is all about.
These aren't run of the mill ballads, of course; there's an exotic flavor throughout, as she performs songs in English, Spanish and Portuguese and offers selections from composers like Antonio Carlos Jobim ("Amparo" and "Absolut Lee"), Luiz Bonfa ("Man Alone") and Ivan Lins ("Love Dance"). Koorax gives these songs such an irresistible aura even an admitted ballad cynic like me turns to putty. And what she does with the classic, "April In Paris," is pure magic.
The musical backing is wonderful, but the sounds do vary because the tracks were recorded over a three year period (2000 to 2002) and in five different countries with as many musicians as you'd expect such an undertaking to require. This is never an issue, however, since the focus is always the incredibly talented Ithamara Koorax. Her second U.S. album, like her first, is a triumph and a pure joy. "

R.I.P.: Specs Powell

The drummer Specs Powell died September 15th in San Marcos near San Diego at the age of 85. Powell started his career as a pianist, but became known mainly as a drummer and as such played on New York's 52nd Street since the early 40s. In 1943 he was hired by CBS as one of the first Black musicians to play for a national network. He also performed with Benny Goodman, Red Norvo or Charlie Parker, but also with Billie Holiday. He stayed with CBS until 1972, then moved to the Virgin Islands before retiring to San Diego. Obituary: San Jose Mercury News .
According to Marin Cohen, from LatinPercussion:
"If it weren't for the genius of Specs Powell, there might never have been an Latin Percussion Here is the story of how he helped shape my career and the use of percussion in all types of music.
When I met and became friends with Specs in 1963, he was playing drums on the Ed Sullivan show, and I was being heavily influenced by the Latin Jazz I was hearing at the Palladium ballroom. As my dislike for my job grew, my desire to be a part of the music business increased. It soon became clear to me that the Latin music business, as I knew it, could not provide me with the opportunities I sought. After confiding this to Specs, he advised me to "get out of the dance hall and into the recording studio" where the real money was. Recognizing that Specs was a shrewd and successful businessman, as well as a consummate musician, I knew that I had been given good advice.
Specs also advised me to contact drummer, Bob Rosengarden, who was making a name for himself playing bongos and Brazilian percussion in the recording studios. Bob made it clear to me that studio musicians required improvements for their instruments that I might be able to provide.
Specs’s first challenge to me was to create a bracket for mounting bongos on a stand. Now, I had watched the percussionists at the Latin dance hall and knew that they put the bongos between their legs, not on a stand. Specs explained that often, while playing a gig, he quickly had to switch from vibes to bongos and that there was no time to put the bongos between his legs. Having the bongos already attached to a stand with a bracket would alleviate this problem. This made perfect sense to me, so I set about devising one. My efforts resulted in the creation of the first bracket, which would enable the bongo owner to install the bracket on a bongo and then attach it to a stand with a 3/8-inch diameter rod attached to it.
When I met with Specs recently, at his home in California, to interview him and reflect on his rich career as a jazz drummer, he told me that my innovation revolutionized percussion. He may have been right. When you are watching the percussionist with Earth Wind and Fire or the percussionist with Mary J. Blige playing bongos on a stand, along with a complete percussion arsenal, remember that it was made possible by the vision of Specs Powell. "

The Cuban trombonist Generoso Jiminez died in Miami, Florida, September 15th at the age of 90 of heart failure. Jiminez had been a member of the original Orquesta Aragon, and later worked with Chico O'Farrill's band. He became widely known as a trombonist with the singer Beny More. He performed in Miami last June and played on the latest album of singer Gloria Estefan to be released shortly. Obituary: Washington Post .
Cafe Carlyle reopened!
After a three-month renovation, New York's legendary Cafe Carlyle will reopened on Sept 19. The ceiling has been raised by two feet, LED lighting has been installed, the stage became a bit larger and the sound system a bit more professional. The murals by Marcel Vertes have been freshened up and in parts even added to - for instance by a tribute to the pianist and singer Bobby Short who used to perform in the room for decades. Eartha Kitt was chosen to open the season, then the singer Barbara Cook will follow, and on Monday evenings Woody Allen's jazz band will perform.

The 81-year old great arranger and composer Johnny Mandel, will be giving today, at 6:30 PM, a free lecture on the "Harlem Speaks" series at the Jazz Museum, Harlem School of the Arts (645 St Nicholas Ave, New York). The Venezuelan pianist Aldemaro Romero died in Caracas September 15th at the age of 79. Idolized by Brazilian jazz connoisseur Mauricio Figueiredo, Romero became known as a piano virtuoso in the 50s, playing the popular music of Venezuela, but also writing symphonic music. Later he played a fusion of bossa nova and Venezuelan joropo and recorded with jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd. He founded the Caracas Youth Choir and the Caracas Philharmonic Orchestra. Titled “Cool Bossa Struttin’”, it features the ravishing talents of Brazil’s top jazz pianist, Paula Faour, backed by two living legends of Brazilian jazz scene: bassist Manuel Gusmão and drummer Dom Um Romão. The album is being released with immediate sales and critical acclaim in Japan, including a four-star review in the January 2003 issue of “Swing Journal” magazine, Japan’s jazz bible.
Besides her great talent (combining a great lyricism with a very subtle rhythmic swing, creating solos of moving beauty, using her classical training to obtain a very special touch on the piano), Mrs. Paula Faour is also very young and beautiful. Something that certainly helps in the marketing aspects, as happened with the career of another very talented Brazilian pianist, Eliane Elias. Like her, Paula has the full potential to become a household name in the jazz scene in the near future.
About the members of her trio, it is worth to mention that we have a brilliant newcomer supported by two legendary older musicians. Just the fact that they (Manuel Gusmão and Dom Um Romão) are her sidemen is an evidence of her talent. Manuel Gusmão, known as “the Brazilian Ray Brown”, played on seminal bossa nova sessions like the debut albums by Flora Purim (“Flora É MPM”, recently reissued by JSR/BMG), Jorge Ben (“Mas Que Nada/Samba Esquema Novo”), Meirelles (“Meirelles & Copa 5”), Conjunto 3D (“Muito na Onda”) and Wanda Sah (“Wanda Vagamente”), to name a few.
And Dom Um Romao, in top form at 75 years old, was a member of great bands like Weather Report (touring worldwide for four years and recording such albums as “Mysterious Traveller”, “Live in Tokyo”, “I Sing The Body Electric” and “Sweetnighter”) and Sergio Mendes’ Brazil 66 (“Ye-Me-Le”, “Fool on the Hill”, “Live at Expo 70”, “Crystal Illusions” etc), besides playing on the legendary “Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim” session in 1967, arranged by Claus Ogerman. Dom Um has also recorded with Ron Carter (“Yellow & Green”), Astrud Gilberto (“Gilberto with Turrentine”), Helen Merrill (“Casa Forte”), Robert Palmer (“Heavy Nova”), Jobim (“Wave”, “A Certain Mr. Jobim”, “The Wonderful World of Jobim”), McCoy Tyner, Cannonball Addreley, Yusef Lateef, Esther Phillips and countless others.
As for Paula Faour herself, she was discovered by JSR’s founder, producer Arnaldo DeSouteiro, back in 1998, when playing in a concert with Sivuca & Hermeto Pascoal. Soon, she became a regular member of Sivuca’s band, and Mr. DeSouteiro recommended her to Ithamara Koorax and Dom Um Romao. Deeply impressed, Dom Um hired Paula as the new pianist for his group in 1999, and since then she toured extensively with him, playing keyboards on Dom Um’s two latest albums (“Lake of Perseverance” and “Nu Jazz Meets Brazil”, both produced by Arnaldo DeSouteiro for JSR/Irma). She also took part, in 2000, in the all-star project for the London-based Mr. Bongo label, “Street Angels”, playing on tracks led by Luiz Bonfa, Danilo Caymmi, Pingarilho and Ithamara Koorax. Paula is also one of the featured artists on the “Rio Strut” album (released by JSR/Milestone in 2002), as a member of the Brazil All-Stars, alongside Deodato, Ithamara Koorax, Dom Um Romão, Joao Donato, Pamyra & Levita, Jorge Pescara, and Claudio Roditi. She also performs as keyboardist/arranger on “Stories and Dreams” (JSR), the debut album by bossa nova living legend Pingarilho.
But nothing compares to her astonishing all-acoustic debut album as a leader, “Cool Bossa Strutin’”, recorded in July 2002 in Rio de Janeiro, with state-of-the-art digital equipment. Actually, all tracks were recorded “live” in the studio, in three days, to give the album a very spontaneous jazz feeling. The repertoire was carefully chosen, mixing very famous jazz standards done with a Brazilian-oriented bossa groove (“Cool Struttin’”, “Here’s That Rainy Day”, “Well, You Needn’t”) and some great Brazilian songs which receive a jazz treatment (the very famous samba “Tristeza”, and Jobim’s haunting ballad “O Grande Amor”, originally recorded on the seminal “Getz/Gilberto” album).
Another bossa hit, “Recado Bossa Nova” (previously recorded by Hank Mobley, Zoot Sims, and The Hi-Lo’s, as well as twice by Manhattan Jazz Quintet) is presented with Ithamara Koorax (voted # 4 Best Jazz Singer in Down Beat’s 2002 Readers Poll) as special guest. And Brazil’s top reedman, Jose Carlos “Big Horn” Ramos performs beautifully on “Tereza My Love” (doing the baritone sax solo on this gem from Jobim’s “Stone Flower” album for CTI), “Blue in Green” (doing the flute solo in this masterpiece from Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue”) and, of course, in the surprising bossa treatment of Sonny Clark’s classic title track! Another Brazilian genius, Eumir Deodato, contributed with “Mr. Tom”, a song he wrote in tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim (“Tom” was his nickname) the day Jobim passed away.
The album is full of amazing surprises, thanks to Paula’s creativity. In the intro for “Tereza, My Love” she uses a phrase from another Jobim song, “Caminhos Cruzados”. The jazz standard “Here’s That Rainy Day” opens with Satie’s “Gymnopedie #1”, but Paula quotes Jobim’s “Waters of March” during the tag. Deodato’s intoxicating samba, “Mr. Tom”, includes the refrain of a big dancefloor hit that Deodato scored in the disco-music era, “SOS, Fire In The Sky”. And there are many other pleasures you will certainly be delighted to discover by yourself!

The title Cool Bossa Struttin' speaks volumes about Paula Faour's musical outlook. "Cool Struttin'," which opens this CD, is a funky number by late hard bop pianist Sonny Clark — and by calling her first album as a leader Cool Bossa Struttin', Faour is acknowledging the fact that she owes a creative debt to both the United States and her native Brazil. She is a jazz pianist with a strong Bill Evans influence, but Brazilian rhythms have also had a major impact on her playing (which is swinging yet lyrical). And quite appropriately, Faour turns her attention to both Brazilian and American songs on this 2002 session — Brazilian as in two Jobim songs ("O Grande Amor" and the lesser known "Tereza, My Love") and Eumir Deodato's "Mr. Tom," American as in Miles Davis' "Blue in Green," Jimmy Van Heusen's "Here's That Rainy Day," and Thelonious Monk's "Well, You Needn't." The latter has been recorded countless times since Monk unveiled it in the '40s, and much to her credit, Faour manages to bring something different to the tune — rarely has "Well, You Needn't" received such a Brazilian-minded makeover. Faour also interprets a song that didn't come from either the U.S. or Brazil, but rather, England: the Beatles' "Fool on the Hill," which works well as instrumental Brazilian jazz. Most of the time, Faour leads an acoustic piano trio that employs Manuel Gusmão on bass and the great Dom Um Romão on drums, but a guest will occasionally join the trio. One is Brazilian singer Ithamara Koorax, who is characteristically expressive on the standard "Recado Bossa Nova." Faour was 25 when Arnaldo DeSouteiro produced this album, which is a promising and enjoyable debut for the Brazilian pianist.

For several reasons, Paula Faour invites comparisons to the well-known Eliane Elias. Like Elias, Faour is a Brazilian jazz instrumentalist who plays the acoustic piano and electric keyboards — and she obviously shares Elias' strong appreciation of Bill Evans' lyricism. Faour, like Elias, has played both Brazilian and American songs and has combined post-bop pianism with Brazilian rhythms. But Faour is younger than Elias; she was born in the late '70s, whereas Elias was born in 1960. And unlike Elias (who moved to the United States and married trumpeter Randy Brecker), Faour still lives in Brazil. So despite some of the parallels between Faour and Elias, Faour is her own person. The lyrical, melodic Faour brings a variety of influences to her acoustic piano and electric keyboards — some Brazilian, some American. She has been greatly affected by the Brazilian samba rhythm and by Brazilian artists like Eumir Deodato, Sergio Mendes, Azymuth, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, but she has plenty of American influences as well — not only Bill Evans, but also Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea (who is no stranger to Brazilian jazz and worked with Flora Purim and Airto Moreira in his first Return to Forever lineup back in the early '70s). Faour tends to be drawn to the more clean-sounding bop and post-bop pianists, and her own pianism definitely has the sort of crystalline sound one associates with Evans and many of the people he influenced (such as Fred Hersch, Alan Broadbent, Lynne Arriale, and Olga Konkova).Born in Brazil on July 17, 1977, Faour was in her early twenties when, in 1998, she met Arnaldo DeSouteiro, a well-known, very jazz-friendly producer in Brazil (where he has often been described as a South American equivalent of Creed Taylor or Tommy LiPuma). DeSouteiro first heard her performing at a concert that included Hermeto Pascoal and accordionist/guitarist Sivuca, who soon hired her as a regular member of his band. Impressed with Faour's playing, DeSouteiro recommended her to Ithamara Koorax and veteran drummer Dom Um Romão (who commands the sort of respect in Brazilian music that Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, and Ray Barretto have enjoyed in the Afro-Cuban field). In 1999, Romão hired Faour to play with his band, and she ended up touring extensively with the famous drummer and playing on a few of his albums. The early 2000s found Faour appearing on albums by the Brazil All-Stars and Pingarilho. During the summer of 2002, DeSouteiro entered a Rio de Janeiro studio with Faour and produced her first album as a leader, Cool Bossa Struttin', for his own label, Jazz Station Records; primarily an acoustic trio date, the album employs Romão on drums and Brazilian jazz veteran Manuel Gusmão on acoustic bass. - Alex Henderson

The keyboardist and singer Willie Tee died in New Orleans on September 11th at the age of 63 from colon cancer. He was the composer and arranger behind the album "The Wild Magnolias" from 1973, and had participated in several R&B hits in the 60s, some of which have been used as samples by rappers in recent years. His peculiar funk style influenced Joe Zawinul whose band Weather Report later recorded Tee's "Can It Be Done". Tee had been present on many records by local musicians. Hurricane Katrina destroyed his home and studio neighboring Lake Pontchatrain. From 2005-6 he taught as artist in residence at Princeton University, then settled in Baton Rouge. Herb Pomeroy memorial
300 people reunited at Boston's Emmanuel Church to remember the trumpeter and jazz educator Herb Pomeroy who had died in August at the age of 77, as Peter Sworm reports ( Boston Globe ). Overcome by grief, Steve Kuhn had to stop his address, so he went to the piano and played a sad song. Singer Rebecca Parris remembered how Pomeroy's criticisms were always productive, never hurtful. Pomeroy had played with Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins and Lionel Hampton during his career. Phil Wilson honored his work as an educator at a time when jazz still was a four-letter word at universities.

Moog Music Announces "The Bob" Award Winners
MOOG MUSIC ANNOUNCES "THE BOB" AWARD WINNERS
The Moog Music Lifetime Achievement Award, "The Bob," is given to artists who have advanced the field of electronic music, especially through the playing and use of Moog instruments. After the first ever Bobs were given during last year's Moogfest, Moog Music has once again announced the winners of this prestigious award, to be presented at Moogfest 2007 at B.B. King's in New York City on Saturday, September 22.
Congratulations to Herb Deutsch and Gershon Kingsley, this year's recipients of The Bob. They follow in the footsteps of Jan Hammer and Keith Emerson, who were presented with the awards at last year's show.
Herb Deutsch worked alongside the late, Robert Moog to develop the first-ever Moog synthesizer. Now some forty-plus years later, Herb continues to amaze with myriad sounds and instruments, including piano, theremin and saxophone. He has recently released a CD, "From Moog to Mac," showcasing a master composer at the forefront of his craft throughout his career.
"The Bob honors those musicians who played or contributed to Moog instruments in ways that advanced the art," said Mike Adams, president of Moog Music. "Herb has spent a lifetime advancing the art. Moog's technical innovations evolved into more useful musical instruments as a result of Herb's relationship with Bob."
Gershon Kingsley led the First Moog Quartet and was one of the first performers to use a Moog synthesizer in a live performance. His albums, including "Kaleidoscopic Vibrations" and "Music to Moog By," represent some of the greatest Moog-based music compositions of all time.
The late Bob Moog was quoted as saying "Gershon became a master of the Moog, and his creativity and musical intelligence enabled him to become one of the best known synthesizer musicians of his time."

Moogfest, in conjunction with The Bob Moog Foundation, presents the first annual Moogfest Symposium. On September 20th, 2007, luminaries in the field of electronic music will gather at the Music Department of Columbia University to discuss how the life and work of synthesizer maverick Dr. Robert Moog has affected their own work.
Members of the Moogfest panel include:
Herbert Deutsch - collaborator on the development of the first Moog synthesizer; composer, musician, and twice Chair of the Music Department at Hofstra University.
Gershon Kingsley - musician and composer who led the first Moog Quartet, which performed around the country and at Carnegie Hall. Best known for his catchy melody "Popcorn", which is part of his "Music to Moog By" album, Mr. Kinglsey has recorded many Moog Albums, including his most recent addition "God is a Moog".
Joel Chadabe - composer, performer and pioneer in the development of interactive music systems. Mr. Chadabe has had a lifelong career in academia and has lectured and recorded extensively. He is the President of the Electronic Music Foundation.
John Eaton - Avant garde opera comoposer and McArthur Fellow who, over a 20 year collaboration with Dr. Moog, created the Eaton-Moog Multi-Touch Sensitive Keyboard.
David Borden - Played and tested early Moog Modulars in Dr. Moog's studio in Trumansburg, NY. Founder of Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece, the first Moog synthesizer ensemble. Retired Director of the Digial Music Program at Cornell Univerity.
Trevor Pinch - Author of "Analog Days: The Invention and Impact of the Moog Syntheziser" and professor and Chairperson of Science and Technology Studies at Cornell Univeristy.

Jeffrey Callison, host of the daily program Insight, on KXJZ FM 90.9, will be interviewing the lovely (and very very beautiful...) singer Alexa Weber Morales about her recent CD, "Wanderings". She will perform live in the studio as well!
